In 2003, MGC Advanced Polymers, Inc., invested and licensed
by Japanese chemical manufacturer Mitsubishi Gas Chemical
Company (Tokyo, Japan), constructed a proprietary state-of-the-art
manufacturing facility in Colonial Heights, Virginia,
to produce
MX-Nylon, a plastic used in auto parts and food packaging.
MGC Advanced Polymers (MAP) is majority owned by Mitsubishi
Gas Chemical (MGC) along with Marubeni Corporation.
MGC and
Marubeni Corporation join a long and growing list of chemical
companies choosing to invest in the Richmond-Petersburg
region.
This 15-acre facility, midway between Richmond and
Petersburg, Virginia, was selected for its proximity to
customers,
its ready access to major transportation corridors and its
ability to draw knowledgeable employees skilled in the
production
of polymers. With an initial production capacity of 22 million
lbs/year, this state-of-the-art, highly automated facility
is designed for ease of expansion.

MAP is committed to the implementation of registered documented
systems for the management of quality and the environment.
Therefore, plans are in place to achieve registration to
ISO 9001:2000 for its quality management system and ISO 14001
for its environmental management system. To that end, the
company has developed a Quality and Environmental Policy.

To our
customers, employees and neighbors: I am pleased and proud
to announce the opening and commercialization of our newest
production facility in the manufacture of MX Nylon. With
courage,
unity, and purpose, we continue the traditions of our Niigata,
Japan facility and look forward to the challenges of the
coming
years.
In this new venture, our first priority is to produce the
highest quality product for our customers in a manner that
preserves the environment and promotes safety. We have a bold
plan to achieve our goals and satisfy our customers. To that
end we have assembled an experienced and professional workforce
that will deliver results. Our MAP team has risen to the challenges
of construction and commissioning of the plant; they will
again rise to the challenges offered by our customers.
I believe that we have a superior product and look forward
to working closely with our customers to develop new applications
and enduses for mutual benefit. I am counting on your continued
guidance and support.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
Sincerely,
Mr. Tomiyoshi Furuta

MGC
has developed a unique polymerization technology
especially for the manufacture of MX-Nylon. Its
production plants are located in Niigata, Japan
and
Colonial Heights, Virginia, USA. More than twenty
years of experience in both process and product
have contributed to the design and operation of
these highly automated plants. The plant is
designed
with process controls that produce a consistent,
high quality product that meets customers'
specifications. The MAP plant is located near U.S.
customers which reduces lead and shipment times.
This additional plant provides our customers with
better continuity of supply as both Niigata and
Virginia plants produce the same products. MAP
products
will be supplied primarily to U.S. customers, but
will be marketed and sold globally.
